AFFiNE download FAQ

Can I use AFFiNE completely offline?

Yes. AFFiNE is local-first: the desktop app stores your docs and whiteboards on your device, so you can read and edit everything without an internet connection. Sync only happens when you choose to sign in to AFFiNE Cloud.

Where is my data stored when I use the desktop app?

Your workspace lives on your own machine, under your control. You can optionally sync a workspace to AFFiNE Cloud for backup and cross-device access, but local storage works with no account at all.

Is the AFFiNE desktop app free to download?

Yes. The app is open source and free to download on every platform. Optional Cloud plans add storage, sync, and collaboration on top of the free local experience.

What is the difference between Stable, Beta, and Canary builds?

Stable is the tested release recommended for daily work. Beta previews upcoming features with light testing, and Canary is the bleeding-edge build published as soon as it is built — expect rough edges there.

How do I update the AFFiNE desktop app?

New versions are delivered through the app's built-in updater, and you can always download the latest installer from this page. Release notes are published on What's New.

Do the mobile apps have the same features as the desktop app?

The iOS and Android apps focus on capturing and reviewing notes on the go, and stay in sync with your other devices through AFFiNE Cloud. The desktop app remains the most complete experience, including the full Edgeless whiteboard and local file control.

How do I move my notes to another computer?

Sign in to AFFiNE Cloud to sync workspaces across devices, or export individual docs (to Markdown or HTML, for example) and import them on the other machine.
